Fries, the pride of Belgium
Nothing comes between Belgians and their fries. Served at home and in restaurants, nothing really beats the chip stands, the so-called “friteries” that are scattered throughout Brussels. There are fewer than there used to be but these stands that serve up packets of rather greasy chips are far from being tourist traps. Join the locals and order the quantity of your choice before deciding on the seasoning. Purists eat them salted and at a push accept them with a dash of mayonnaise or pickles. They are best washed down with beer of course, another flagship of Belgian gastronomy that continues to flow in our capital.
